Carnage at the Curlew - Centurion 'A' 8-1 Curlew
Another night, another win for the Centurion, another performance of almost immeasurable greatness.
For the second week in a row a carnivorous Centurion side tore through their opposition to record an 8-1 victory, this result all the more important as it set up a tantalising final match against second placed Green Dragon to decide the Div C title.
And on the night it truely was carnage, albeit against a partly absent Curlew side.
Both teams started with too few players. 3 Curlews had flown the nest, leaving them with just 6 dartists to the Centurions 8; their missing man being Bobby Bling, the engine of the team and last weeks hero.
The opposition may well have been inferior in numbers, but darts is a performance sport, and it was the fashion in which the win was secured that was most satisfying for the away support.
After Dazzler Clifford had disposed of his opponent the lack of adversaries meant Tim 'One Dart' Way was playing for the win. With 7 games to come, 'One Dart' could have been forgiven for a hint of complacency drifting into his game, but as he's shown throughout his career, nature just hasn't made him that way. 2 legs later he had emerged victorious. A bull finish in the first and a plethora of centuries in the second handing the Ceni the overall plaudits.
A confident Centurion squad refused to let the night peter out, however. Frank Spencer ground out a hard-fought win, before Twig Sanders laid his roots firmly in the lipstick to make it 4 nil, leaving the borderline psychotic Louis 'Louie' Fair to make it 8-1 after byes for Quando, Pain, Klunge, and the Curlews 'Kev'.
Such displays are just the reason why the Centurion remain overwhelming favourites in the hunt for darting glory, but before the celebrations begin, they must first tame the Green Dragon.
Only victory will suffice.
